FAQ

After I move in as a private-pay resident, if I later change my mind, am I obligated in any way?

We require a written notification to move out, unless the move is due to a medical condition that no longer enables you to maintain residence in the Community. If you must move out due to a medical reason, we stop charging you the day your furniture and personal belongings are moved out of the room.

Are there furnished apartments?

Yes, however, we encourage you to bring your own furniture. Make it as much like your home as possible! Hang your favorite photos and pictures on the wall and bring your favorite collectibles!

Are wellness services provided?

The SLC has highly trained passionate caregivers on call twenty-four hours a day who assist our residents with any needs. They are under the supervision of a licensed nursing professional and are trained to offer individualized care.

Can I come and go as I please?

The Senior Living Community wants you to maintain your independent lifestyle. We encourage you to participate in planned activities and outings as you wish while living in our worry-free environment. We simply ask that you sign out when you leave the grounds.

Can I keep my car?

During the admissions process, residents are asked to declare all antiques, jewelry and possessions of a certain value.

For those residents who enter under a Partial Asset Transfer agreement, 75 percent of the value of these declared possessions will go to the Senior Living Community and 25 percent to the resident's inheritor. At the time of admission, residents designate the individual responsible for vacating their apartment. The designee assumes ownership of all resident possessions that are not otherwise disposed of through a Partial Asset Transfer agreement.

For those residents who enter under the 100% Asset Transfer agreement, 100% percent of the value of these declared possessions will go to the Senior Living Community.

Can spouses, relatives or friends share an apartment? Is there an adjusted rate?

Yes, apartments can be shared by family members for an additional charge based on the service level of the second occupant for our assisted living residents, and the apartment type for the independent residents, subject of course to the membership requirements.

Does my monthly fee cover three meals a day and snacks? Is there a selection of entrees in the dining room? Can special diets be accommodated?

Yes, fees cover all your meals and snacks. There are three selections for the main meal, plus a delicious salad bar. We also have the “Always Available” menu, which is available at every meal.  We can also accommodate special diets, such as diabetic, low-salt, low fat, and low-cholesterol, as well as others.

How do I start the application process?

The process begins with a call to StarCare, 1-800-567-2273. With your authorization, a credit check and eligibility check will be completed. If eligibility is confirmed, an application will be mailed to you.

Applications are not processed if the applicant plans to file for bankruptcy or is in the process of bankruptcy. Once the bankruptcy proceedings have ended, an applicant may complete the application process.

I enjoy entertaining friends. Can I invite a guest to any meal?

Our private dining room is perfect for entertaining a small group and provides the same comforts as home. You may also have a guest join you at your table in the main dining room for a nominal fee and a reservation ahead.

If I enter under the Private Pay option, what services are optional and how much do they cost?

If I move into the SLC before my home is sold, who will take care of it in my absence until it is sold?

If you are admitted under one of the assignment of assets plans, the Senior Living Community will work with a realtor to sell your property and will arrange for all upkeep, including landscape maintenance, house cleaning, etc., until the house or mobile home is sold.

The related expenses are tracked by the accounting department and then deducted from the total assigned assets prior to the 75/25% or 100% disposition of assets. You would be responsible for 25 percent of these expenses under the 75/25% plan.
