Thank you for your interest in joining the Order of the Eastern Star in California. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into our beautiful Order. Below are eligibility requirements, how to petition for membership, and an overview of what to expect once you submit your application.
Eligibility Requirements
- Each candidate must believe in a Supreme Being.
- Be 18 years old or older.
- A resident of California for a minimum of 6 months.
- Adhere to the laws of our Country.
- Not be a convicted felon.
- Women wishing to join must either be related to an Affiliated Master Mason in good standing (or if deceased was in good standing at the time of his death) by birth, marriage or adoption; or have been a member of Job’s Daughters International or the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls for three (3) years or Majority.
- Men wishing to join must be an Affiliated Master Mason in good standing.
How to Petition for Membership
- Contact a Chapter near you by using the blue “FIND A CHAPTER” search box located at the top of this page and email the Secretary.
- Fill out an application for membership provided by the Secretary.
- Submit the application with the appropriate fees to the Secretary.
What to Expect Once You’ve Submitted Your Application
- Your application will be read at the next meeting of the Chapter.
- Members of the Chapter will schedule time to meet with you and discuss your application and interest.
- You will be notified by the Chapter Secretary if your application for membership has been approved and your initiation date.
