Donations to the Unrestricted Fund benefit the residents of the Senior Living Community* and maintenance and operations of the Home and includes supporting the activities that engage and entertain our residents.

The Eastern Star Homes of California is the operating fund for the benefit of the residents of our Senior Living Community* (SLC) and pays the current expenses for the Eastern Star Homes of California and its subsidiaries.

Our Vision: Guided by the principles of our Order, we enable our members to band together to make a difference in each other’s lives and in our communities.
Our Mission: Our mission is to maximize our ability to make a difference for our members and our communities.
The purpose of the Foundation is to receive gifts, bequests, and contributions for the furtherance of educational, charitable, and scientific purposes, and is responsible for the maintenance of the following funds:
Special Projects of the Worthy Grand Matron and Worthy Grand Patron
Charities designated by the Worthy Grand Matron and Worthy Grand Patron and approved by the Grand Chapter. Each year the WGM and WGP may designate specific charities as special projects of the Grand Chapter.
The Special Projects of the WGM and WGP are:
- May 2nd Big Giving – Fly Brave
- The Purple Elephant – Donations Support Alzheimer’s and Dementia Research.
- Fly Brave – Donations support Autistic Young Adults.
- Paws for Purple Hearts – Donations Support the Canine Assisted Warrior Therapy.

Cancer Assistance Funds
J. Clifford Lee Memorial Cancer Fund:
The purpose of this fund is to provide financial aid to cancer patients.
Members, who are in good standing in California, and their immediate families who live with and are financially dependent on the member, are eligible for assistance from this fund.

Marguerite Rennie Memorial Fund:
The interest and income from this fund shall be distributed to needy cancer victims by a committee designated as “The Marguerite Rennie Memorial Fund Committee”.
Members, who are in good standing in a California Chapter, and their immediate families who live with and are financially dependent on the member, are eligible for assistance from this fund.
Cannot be a recipient of funds from or have an application pending with the J. Clifford Lee Memorial Cancer Fund.

The Cancer Research Fund is for yearly donations to a charitable organization engaged in cancer research chosen by the Worthy Grand Matron.
This year’s donations benefit the following organization: Cancer Research Institute, specifically for their immunotherapy research.

Scholarships
- Scholarship Fund (General):
- Grants scholarships for graduating high school students for their first year in college or university; members of the Order who wish to continue their education in institutions of higher learning; needy students who have been unable to go directly into college from high school; and students who have completed a portion of their higher education but who find themselves in need of aid to continue.

- June Lucretia Barnum, PGM, Memorial Scholarship:
- Grants scholarships to students pursuing a degree in forestry management, its related fields or education, and gives special consideration to those with Masonic affiliation. This fund was established as a memorial to June Lucretia Barnum, who served as Worthy Grand Matron in 1991.

- Gerald P. Cashion Memorial Fund:
- Grants scholarships to students pursuing degrees in Business Administration or Engineering at a four-year college or university. This fund was established as a perpetual memorial to Gerald P. Cashion, Past Grand Patron, who served General Grand Chapter as Right Worthy Grand Sentinel from 1988 to 1991.

- The Organist Scholarship Fund is established for the purpose of awarding one annual scholarship to a member in good standing of the Order to be used for the purpose of keyboard instruction. The member must use the skills gained from the education provided for the benefit of the Order in California as an Organist for a California chapter.
